Zubeen Garg
Garg is from Jorhat, Assam,India.His birth name is Zubeen Borthakur. He was named after the composer Zubin Mehta and uses his gotraa name, Garg, as his surname.Garg's father Mohini Borthakur is also a poet and lyricist writing under the name Kapil Thakur.His mother Ily Borthakur was a dancer, actress and singer. His younger sister Jonkey Borthakur was an actress and singer who died in a car accident in 2002 near Tezpur while they were going to perform stage show along with her co-artists. There after Garg made an album known as Hkhihkhu in memory of his late sister Jonkey.He did his schooling in various places of Assam viz, Jorhat, Karimganj, Bijni and Tamulpur and 2 years of pre university in in Jagannath Barooah College Jorhat under Dibrugarh University, and then moved to B. Borooah College, Guwahati, where he pursued Bachelor of Science. He was a degree science dropout because of Music,when he received the gold medal for his western solo performance in a 1992 youth festival, he got his first taste of success and confidence as vocalist.His other sister Palme is a Bharata Natyam dancer.Zubeen married Garima Saikia, a fashion designer from Golaghat, India on 4 February 2002. Abhianaya – A Jonkie Borthakur Performing Arts academy is an independent institution of research,training and execution of various performing arts.The Journey of Abhinaya Started 5 years back on July 2012.Headed by Zubeen Garg,the youth icon of north-east is based on youth theatre and acting academy that was set up to nurture and develop people through the performing arts. i-Creation is my(Zubeen’s) own production house. Mission China is produced under this production house and Kanchanjungha is upcoming movie from this production house. Kalaguru artiste foundation is a simple step to provide some hope love to all the artiste through a simple approach. It's a straight platform.
