ARQ-E-ZABAAN is an exclusive beginner’s workshop on understanding and knowing a language that all of us speak, a language that Amir Khusrow tasted first and the nectar of which reaches all of our tongues even today. This workshop explores the existence of the Hindustani Language, an amalgamation of the Ganga Jamuni tehzeeb; the Hindi-Urdu sisterhood, by studying its origin, history, and its components--majorly the structures of a Ghazal and a Nazm, tracing these traditions from the writings of Amir Khusrow to the post-Partition period of Faiz Ahmed Faiz. The emphasis is to eventually craft our own couplets of a Ghazal and form a Nazm of our own.
