Description

Artists for a cause is an initiative by skillbox in Association with umeed where number of Artists and Brands coming together joining hands as part of this initiative to do their bid in the time of need. 
They are hosting a number of acts from around the globe for a period of 2 months to help raise awareness for a change.



Umeed project, a citizen collective Covid19 SOS of more than 300 volunteers and several NGOs, has provided emergency food relief to more than 2.5 lacs people across Delhi, UP, Bihar, and Rajasthan with overwhelming support from change-makers like you. 

Umeed project has reached to 33000 + families with dry ration essential kits and served 150,000 cooked meals across Delhi. We accessed the most vulnerable and marginalized section of the community especially internally displaced people, homeless families, and stranded migrants. On May 20, with our partners, we arranged 7 buses to send 180 migrant workers back home in Chhattisgarh.

In the Second Edition of Artists for a Cause, we encourage and invite you to help raise awareness and funds for COVID-19 relief for migrant workers and families in need.

Contribute now at the link above.

Contributions will go to Umeed Project to help the ones who are in need of immediate relief - migrants and workers stranded in urban cities and facing difficulties because of the lockdown which has been extended further in India and with nowhere to go.

Park Circus
Comprising rapper and lyricist BC Azad, bassist Joy Roy and music producer National Animal – with support from singer Rohini Bhose and DJ Vally – the band sets the bar high right from the very first song of the album.
The Fanculos
This horn-fronted, six-piece powerband was dreamt up by Italian/Guyanese, British-born musician Ramon Ibrahim. Ramon was heavily influenced at an early age by British SKA bands such as The Specials, The Beat, Madness, etc. and recently set about writing an original set based on his own interpretation of SKA, reggae and other cool things. Their live set is a mixture of high energy SKA, dub, reggae, funk and even more high-energy SKA! The main focus of this band is live performance, audience interaction, good times and just general fanculery. So get yer skanking shoes on and be prepared to jump up and down in a frenetic fashion. The Fanculos are made up of healthy, well-nourished and very talented Mumbai musicians - Ryan Sadri on tenor sax JJ on drums Apurv Isaac (Lala) on guitars and backing vocals, Saurabh Suman (The Prince of Saurabia) on bass Rhys Sebastian Dsouza on alto sax Ramon Ibrahim on vocals, trombone and keys
Sanyas-I
Sanyas - I has been passionate about Dub, Reggae, Dancehall and its various Caribbean subgenres and been mentored by some of international and indian reggae artists. He is Co-founder of Dub Akhara, a collective of musicians, artists, producers, mc's & singers. Part of 10,000 Lions Sound System and Reggae india. He is also a versatile Mc combining hindi, english and jamican patwa to connect everyone to his concious lyrics and has recorded the first Dubplate for the very famous Rudy Roots Selecta from France. Performed with artists like Ninjahdread, Realovuetion hifi, Ciscko kid, General Zooz, Reggae Rajahs, Delhi Sultanate, Dakta Dub, King Jassim, Asher Seletor, Earl Getshead, Rudy Roots, Dread Squad, NZ Selector, MC Kaur, 10,000 Lions Sound System, Ras man man, The Avadhutas, The Riddim Funktion and many more.
Zokova
Suyash is a drummer, producer, songwriter and session musician based out of New Delhi, India
Inalab
Experimental/Electronica act from New Delhi, India. Fusing gritty electronics with a live ensemble has been the main theme behind the band's sound. Inalab has collaborated with artists like Shubha Mudgal, Apeksha Dandekar, Jai Row Kavi and Keshav Dhar to release various independent singles since its inception in 2016. Debut EP - ‘The Commons' out now!
Akash Chopra
Brought up in Jaipur, composing and singing basic melodies of Love and Life. He began learning guitar and composing music when he was in 9th Grade and when he completed Company Secretary, he chose to be a full time Musician. He performed significant Festivals in 2019, as Spoken Fest and Zomaland, (just before the pandemic) and in April 2020, he came up with his debut song "Peace" which found a path in Rolling Stone India Magazine.
Bawari Basanti
Bawari Basanti is a songwriter who sings about being a contemporary Indian woman and the conversations one might have with oneself while having one step in the future and another rooted in Indian culture.
Cinema of Excess
Sometimes we hear a song and we're beamed to a different world. Anirudh Ravi, Bharath Kashyap and Abheet Anand make up the acoustic trio that is Cinema of Excess, and the band does just that with every song they release and every show they play. Inspired and influenced by artists such as The Milk Carton Kids, John Mayer, Iron and Wine and Damien Rice, Cinema of Excess will make you go from nostalgic to heartfelt, and everything in between. In 2019, they made their debut international tour with ‘The Boarding Pass Tour’ and they recently released a single ‘Beyond What’s Here’ with an accompanying video/BTS footage of their journey as musicians making music together. Cinema of Excess is currently in the studio, working on many new releases this year including a single, a music video (or two?), and their long awaited second EP.
Gino banks
Gino has been fooling around with the drums since he was 8 years old and took it up seriously at the age of 15. He is the son of Louiz Banks, India 's legendary jazz pianist and composer. He toured Australia and China with his fathers' indo-jazz fusion band SANGAM playing percussion when he was just 9 years old. Gino is a versatile player, this trait leads him to performing and recording with artists and bands of all types of genres, artists like his father Louiz Banks, Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pt. Shivkumar Sharma, Ustad Rashid Khan, Fazal Qureshi, Taufique Qureshi, and Pt. Vikku Vinayakram; to Bollywood sessions and gigs with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Salim-Sulaiman, Vishal-Shekhar, Pritam, and Hariharan; to fusion groups SILK, Yuva, Niladri Kumar’s Sitar Funk, Rakesh Chaurasia, Amaan & Ayaan Ali Khan and Bala Bashkar; to rock bands like Helga's Fun Castle, Gary Lawyer, Skinny Alley, Joe Alvares and Zero. He has performed with international musicians like Mike Stern, Guthrie Govan, Tony Lakatos, George Brooks, Leni Stern, Jay Oliver, Angela Hagenbach, Jonas Desai, Carl Clements and The Maske Trio. As well as with Dance Troupes like Pt. Birju Maharaj's Kathak Group, Aditi Bhagwat, Kaveri Sageder and Terence Lewis Contemporary Dance Company and many more. He has also had the Honor and Privilege of playing a few tracks on the Miles From India Album produced by Bob Belden, nominated for a 2009 Grammy in the Contemporary Jazz Category with Times Square Records, NYC; a fusion of Great Indian Classical Musicians and Miles Davis Alumni Musicians.
The Flower Child
The Flower Child is a soul hippie, an energy tripper, a seeker of the beyond and a believer of the unknown. The Flower Child draws inspiration from a wide range of sources, be it a drop of water or the stars and the moon or the chaos and love that engulfs our daily lives every now and then. A hippie who is on a journey of spreading peace, harmony, love and light.
Sanjeeta Bhattacharya
New Delhi-based multi-faceted artist Sanjeeta Bhattacharya holds a Grammy nomination to her name as part of the Berklee Indian Ensemble. Her solo material and collaborations have been heavily promoted by streaming giants Spotify and Apple Music and as a performer, she’s graced stages at several music festivals such as Nami Island World Music Festival in South Korea and the Panama Jazz Festival as well as Hornbill, Bacardi NH7 Weekender and Magnetic Fields in India. Bhattacharya's latest on-screen work includes acting in Shah Rukh Khan’s latest, Jawan and in shows on Netflix’s Feels Like Ishq (2021), Zee Five’s The Broken News (2022). She’s also set to be part of two upcoming projects, a thriller film with Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Diana Penty titled Adbhut and an Amazon Prime web show called Django. She’s even shared her experiences and stories as a TEDx speaker.

I'm an independent singer-songwriter from Kolkata, India, with influences that sink deep into folk, bluegrass, pop and jazz. Imma driven by passion, social awareness and loveee. I've been part of unique musical collaborations across genres and right now working on getting my art out in the market yo. I play festivals, concerts, jazz clubs, house concerts etc across the country!
Samar Monsoon
Shoals
Comprising childhood friends and multi-instrumentalists Utkarsh Varma and Sidharth Gupta, Shoals is a Delhi-based indie electronica duo that refuses to be tied down by a single genre, adding a fresh layer to the electronic music scene in India. Their sound is an amalgamation of genres and sounds across time, blending different decades of triphop, progressive rock, dance, and hip hop. Since their formation in 2017, Shoals has independently released two EPs “Mad Turf” and “BossBattle Mixtape Vol.1”. These got instant acclaim by reputed publications in the country such as Wild City, Bangin’ Beats, and Rolling Stone’s weekly editor’s pick. Shoals’ debut album “Sour Ink” released on January 11, 2019 and presents a cohesive narrative using the sound that the duo has polished over the course of the year.

Purveyor of Infectious Energy – ‘’StoKed’’ One of India’s most promising Techno exports, ‘’StoKed’’ is making some serious in-roads amongst the new breed of international techno artists. Having wrapped up a touring schedule from September to December spanning India, Thailand, Germany, Netherlands, Croatia, Srilanka, Dubai & having shared the decks with Chris Liebing, Art-Bat, Bart Skils, Loco & Jam, Cristian Varela, Spektre & Vinicius Honorio, StoKed proves just why he is firing on all cylinders.
Chabuk
Formed in November 2017, Chabuk is a Hindi rhythm & poetry outfit, whipping up rhymes that are lyrical, groovy and heavy-duty. The band comprises of Tanmay Bahulekar AKA ‘Microphon3’ on vocals, Devanshu Sampat on drums, Roop Thomas on bass and Raja Pradhan on guitars. The band released its debut EP “Downmarket” in June 2019 and also has two music videos out for its tracks “Shahenshah” and “Kaun Hip Hop”. Chabuk has played gigs in various cities such as Mumbai, Hyderabad, Goa and Pune, and was also part of festivals such as Vh1 Supersonic (2020) and Control Alt Delete (2019)
COLLIDO
Collido is a Delhi based electronic music collective comprising of Sahil Singh & Ardaman Dua. Formed in 2011, the project aims at providing a unique dance floor experience to the underground space in the country with a sound that can be characterised by driving & chunky basslines, full of resonating synths and melodies. Collido mainly play a Techno and Deep House set but also have an alternative Disco/Nu Disco set. The duo have been active in the music industry for over eight years now with their own event management firm by the name of Nightvibe, which has been responsible for bringing down reputed artists across India over the years, not only providing the country with several quality House &Techno shows but also helping the underground music industry/market grow.
WB & The Prophets Of Rock
Winston Balman the “artist” came into being way back in 2003, while in school in Dehradun. It was then, that he found his calling, and realized he wanted to devote his life to music and other performing arts. You can often hear him say this.
Yatin Srivastava
Yatin Srivastava Project is the Progressive Rock solo outfit of New Delhi based musician Yatin Srivastava. Previously based in London, the band is now back in its home town to make its mark in the Indian Independent Music Circuit. The band released it's first full length album 'Chaos // Despair' featuring the likes of Dhruv Visvanath, Craig Blundell (Steven Wilson), Bruce Soord (The Pineapple Thief) amongst many others and was featured on Prog Magazine and Metal Hammer Magazine with highly positive reviews.

Sky level Is An Experimental Math Rock Band From Shillong Formed In 2014 With The Pure Intention Of Playing Original Music.Thev Band Has A Fresh And New Sound. Prakti is a singer-songwriter from Delhi, India who cares about feelings and mental health. Her debut EP 'Why Don't You Speak' has songs that will make you confront your feelings and provide comfort to you. Through her songs she loves spreading awareness on what we can do about things that affect our mental health. Her style of writing emphasizes on lyrics and melody. She is inspired by musicians such as John Mayer, Sara Bareilles, Lianne La Havas and Norah Jones.

Chaar Hazaari is an independent Hindi Contemporary & Folk Rock Band from New Delhi formed in the year 2012. Owlist
I'm Nitesh Jhurani aka Owlist. I'm a beat maker, finger drummer , producer and a voice over artist from Jaipur, India. I've performed along side some amazing artists in the local scene and shows, including Mysa (music festival) opened for Matteo, Gently Altered 4th year tour with Sapta Reproduce listening sessions, etc. My music video was featured on VH1 and streamed on Lakme Fashion week , a web series called 'Insomnia' and a couple of different platforms. It all started back in college with DJing and that's how I got into making my own music. I'm highly inspired by the old school hip hop and beat makers. I like to sample old music which came before my time. It helps me to connect with the art which we might never see again. I was influenced by the drum machines, I still am. And that got me into Finger Drumming. I perform my beats live. I can define my genre as soul-jazzy boom bap, chill, lo-fi kind and mostly experimental.
Hautewulf
Hautewulf was started off in 2019 by Delhi (IN) based self-trained guitar player and producer Mohan Kumar as an experimental electronic act. Coming from a middle-class Indian family, Mohan initially wanted to be a graphic designer and an animator. Inspired by classic cartoon network series, DC, Marvel, and Raj comics, He was fascinated by the visual context and felt a strong connection with each character and storyline. Music happened right after high school and a whole new journey started around 2010 when he picked up the guitar and headlined various major metal fests across India. The music and lore of Hautewulf are based on SciFi, cyberpunk, futuristic, retrofuture themes supported by a fictional storyline and characters such as Dr.Bruce, Hecate/Commander Olivia, and Barak. Music from Hautewulf has featured in big ventures like Rolling stones, Rock Street Journal, Radio City Freedom, What's the scene, Wild City, KrunK, Warpcore, A Humming Heart, The Score Magazine, etc. Mohan has been actively involved in the Indian music scene for over 10 years and now wishes to build a comic book saga based on his fictional storylines supported by his music to promote a futuristic and cyberpunk subculture. Inspired by Hans Zimmer, Mick Gordon, Meshuggah, Trent Reznor, Skrillex, and Aphex Twin, He wishes to continue his journey to become a background music composer. Currently, he's also involved in expanding his horizons in guitar performance and theory under the guidance of phenomenal educator Floyd Francisco Fernandes.

Angad Katari
Angad Katari is a Delhi based indie singer/songwriter, from being a drummer in the past to a singer/songwriter, he released his debut Album Titled “LOST” In November 2017 across all platforms for which the official launch show happened at Akshara Theatre New Delhi on 3’rd February,2018 he had also initially released his first single titled “I loved you”.Angad’s music has more of an acoustic feel to it, he prefers to keep the arrangement of his songs as simple and as groovy while he manages to get the essence of his lyrics across to the audience. The guitar fret-board is his playground and his words an outlet for his observations, experiences and imagination. Delhi based singer-songwriter and producer Shubumm aka Shubham Chawla has been making a name for himself with every new release. A love for acoustics, strings and intimate setups has influenced Shubumm’s music which reflects in his performance style -- bringing the every-day into music, keeping it simple and subtle -- which his audience can relate to. But that doesn't stop him from experimenting with sounds and showcasing his versatility. The process of releasing music is a way for him to find his sound and see what sticks. His music has been featured on top editorial playlists of Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, JioSaavn and Hungama Music. He has been mentioned by Rolling Stone Magazine, Maed in India, A Humming Heart, Radio City, and many more. Shubumm has played shows in multiple cities and independent festivals like The Yellow Festival, SYZYGY Arts Festival, TPM etc
Ethnica
Azaan Khan is an 8th generation musician, a graduate from KMMC school of music, and a trained multi instrumentalist, in guitar, piano, classical harp and hang drums. He has performed at prestigious venues around the world and in India as a solo artist, with world music ensembles like SHK collective and Naad Voim. His latest venture is his own brand of experimental electronic music under his alias Instinct, which draws inspiration from glitch, drum and bass and synth wave, and is peppered with Indian classical music, spoken word poetry and other inspirations from his roots. Rodali is a mixed media visual artist using traditional paint and ink mediums with collage, digital art, illustration and photography. She is also a professional Visual Jockey and has worked with groups such as Coven Code, Mosquito Masala, REProduce, Boxout FM and OddBird Theatre to bring together live performances and experimental set design. Her latest production in collaboration with experimental electronic producer Instinct is an hour long audiovisual journey that combines found footage and 3D and 2D animations.

Umeed Project
UMEED project is a COVID19 Food SOS initiative started by a coalition of NGOs - Foundation for poverty alleviation, Basti Suraksha Manch, Qasid Foundation and Bhartiye Navdeep Samiti to provide emergency survival relief and food to the highly vulnerable families in New Delhi.
