The spirited, up-tempo crispness of manouche and 1930s jazz is hugely appealing to audiences and musicians alike, and in a word, joyous. This set of music put together for December 16th at the Courtyard should have you wanting for more.
Radha Thomas has spent many years delving into all the different facets of vocal jazz and has performed at concerts and clubs across the world. She and Aman have created music together for over a decade, constantly pushing the bar. They have two albums together. Bangalore is Radha’s hometown. While local audiences used to listen to her often, the pandemic meant that she hasn’t really had a chance to sing in public for a while. She particularly chuffed and is looking forward to this high-octane set.
Aman Mahajan is involved with multiple improvisatory genres of music, and is a serial international collaborator from jazz to world music and of course, his own music, Refuge. An alumnus of Berklee College of Music in Boston, Aman is also a much sought-after music teacher.
Joey Sharma is an expert gypsy jazz guitarist and has entertained audiences many times with his machine-gun guitar technique, with The Django Twins and with The Joey Sharma band. For many years, he has taught aspiring guitarists in Bangalore.
Dhani Muniz rom Pondicherry is a young musician making waves in the jazz scene already. He plays a fretless bass.
