Aarzoo
04:56 Min.
One of the firsts jokes I remember listning to as a young girl was my mother jesting, ‘Door se dekha toh ladki zulfein saja rahi thi, Paas jaake toh gaye pooch hila rahi thi’ I found this soo funny then, especially the way my mother would tell it, each time more dramatic than the last. I began to picture each word, as she would tell it. Somehow, as I grew older, this joke became more real. Perhaps, I started taking it took it a bit too seriously. Time has a way of making us undermine simple humour, and over analyse basic pleasures. Nothing feels enough. To help sing my interpretation of this, I lean on THE WRITINGS OF- FAIZ AHMAD FAIZ- This Song- Aarzoo - is a reminder that there are many places, desire can stem from; a memory, a lost notebook, an unfinished story, a flight, a long distance friend, an apple, or even a joke you heard... And most times, we don't know why we desire something, or what it is we truly desire. This song is for you, if like me you also feel like, your dreams are too big and time too little. There is a video that shall be released with the audio as well, which beautifully showcases these emotions through the eyes of a young girl who lives on an apple farm in the little town of Kalpa, Himachal Pradesh.
