Dry Ice looks at grief and mourning in the age of the internet, through the particular lens of online queer communities who are given to resilience and despair in equal measure. Snatches of conversations — on the radio, the phone, or the web — over several years prise open the death wish of a generation that had seemed poised to inherit a world far more accepting of differences and diversity than ever before.

This is a pre-recorded edited performance, for which each team-member worked remotely from six separate locations in Delhi, Mumbai, Guwahati, and Pune.

Sahir Mehta

Sahir Mehta completed his Masters in Acting from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Acting credits include Max Key’s Mad Forest, the BBC radio drama Hi-Spec, Nadir Khan’s A Few Good Men and Alistair Bennis’ Butter and Mashed Bananas. He has directed a college production of Ira Levin’s Veronica’s Room, David Mamet’s Speed-the-Plow as well as the radio play, Jason and Nyra, showcased at Thespo’s Audio-torium.

Nihir Jain

Nihir Jain completed his post graduation diploma in acting and theatre-making from the Drama School Mumbai. Acting credits include the Karnad adaptations — Sunil Shanbag’s Rakt Kalyan and Abhinav Grover’s Tughlaq — and So, So & So Productions’ Two Soldiers, showcased at Queer Ink’s Inqueerable. One of the finalists of Bombay Times’ Fresh Face 2017, he is a trained dancer and a martial artist.

Akash Ghosalkar

Akash Ghosalkar completed his post graduation diploma in acting and theatre-making from the Drama School Mumbai, and has also trained in the Meisner technique with Raghav Aggarwal. He worked as a production manager for Faezeh Jalali’s Shikhandi and 7/7/7. Film credits include Vikrant Dhote’s Ajay, which won best Indian narrative short at Kashish Mumbai International Queer Film Festival.

Vikram Phukan

Vikram Phukan has written extensively on theatre in publications like The Hindu, Mid-Day, Forbes India, Live Mint, Firstpost, Mumbai Theatre Guide and Stage Impressions. Theatre credits as playwright/collaborator include Stories in a Song, Limbo, an Indian adaptation of Arthur Miller’s The Price, The Gentlemen's Club, Even Mists Have Silver Linings and his directorial ventures Those Left Behind Things and Dry Ice.
