Join in and learn from the contemporary legends of Hindustani songwriting, writing, poetry writing and expression, and voice modulation.
Umeed Project has helped more than 4,50,000 people with dry ration, cooked meals and essentials including 40,000 families. Our community kitchens have served over 3,00,000 meals. We are also helping people who need medical assistance and immediate surgeries. We are committed to bring hope in the lives of the most vulnerable families with your kindness and contributions.

SAFAR-E-NAGMA | 2-Day Songwriting Workshop by LIKHARI

About the Workshop: Safar-e-Nagma is a two-day workshop structure that explores the vast avenue of the craft of writing a song, a _nagma_, the process, the journey, the use of metaphors when a song is written. By understanding structures of a verse as well as understanding it through Gulzar and Ahmad Faraz, we will deconstruct a journey of self-exploration that one has to take while writing a song. The workshop will leave you not just with your own heart-crafted song, but hopefully with a greater meaning to life.
Artist information: Likhari is a Poet based in New Delhi. He majorly writes verses in Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi. Having written for the past 4 years, he has worked with brands like Torani and Inaayat Jewels and has released independent, self-produced songs in collaboration with various artists. Operating on all platforms anonymously, he works, writes and identifies only through his takhallus (pen name).

ARQ-E-ZABAAN | 2- Day Hindustani Writing Workshop by VRINDA VAID

About the Workshop: Arq-e-Zabaan is an intensive 2- Day Workshop on Hindustani Poetry and Performance. To reinforce the significance of self-expression and reinstill the belief in the importance of navigating your feelings out into the world through different forms of self-expression--writing in Hindustani and its physical performance being the foremost. The workshop also aims to give the participants a deeper insight into understanding the art of Hindustani writing by acquainting them with the existing structures through which they will then embark on a journey to crafting their own pieces.
The workshop has travelled through several cities and done successful sessions in the past year and has been featured in Mid-Day Mumbai and Pune Mirror.
Artist information: Vrinda Vaid is an independent Hindustani poetess. A graduate in English Literature from Kirori Mal College, Delhi University, Vrinda has previously worked with Humans Of Bombay and now works on independent projects covering everything from contemporary journalistic writing to more personally borne scripts. She has previously performed for platforms like Punjab University as well as Josh Talks and runs a monthly one-of-a-kind Hindustani Writing Workshop named ARQ-E-ZABAAN. She also runs a Podcast called “SUKHAN” available on all streaming platforms.
Vrinda has also done Additional Dialogues for a Short Film titled "Sheer Qorma"(Unreleased) starring Shabana Azmi, Swara Bhasker, Divya Dutta.

Poetry: An Expression of Your Inner Self | 1-Day Poetry Writing Workshop by TARANJIT KAUR

About the Workshop: Poetry: An Expression of Your Inner Self helps your write poetry while facilitating you to give expression to your thoughts and suppressed emotions. It teaches you some basic techniques of writing poetry and maintaining honesty as a writer
Artist information: Taranjit is an Indian actress and poet, known for her Oscar-winning German film Raju. She has worked in many award-winning films like Ankhon Dekhi and Mouth of hell, a BAFTA-nominated film.
Her upcoming films are Kafaara and Murder on the road to Kathmandu. She is known for her writing on women issues. Her first poem, I'm not a virgin, on Youtube got more than 3.9 million views and huge responses. Her other poems like "Girls don't make a noise" n "Happily ever after" address issues like sexual and emotional abuse.
She is also the Co-founder of PadSquad, an initiative started during the lockdown, that works for menstrual hygiene of women.

ISHQ-E-AAWAAZ | 1-Day Voice Modulation Workshop by SABIKA MUZAFFAR

About the Workshop: Have you ever let your voice lead your words? Ever let your voice pave the way to your Inner Voice? Ishq-e-Aawaaz will reunite you with the ways you could dance to your own tunes, as a child. Former RJ Sabika will reveal some tried and tested tricks of the trade but only after warming your voice up by playing some childhood games. This voice modulation workshop will Umeed-fully end on a high note, with a Shayarana performance by Sabika Muzaffar urf The Shayari Teller. :)
Artist information: Sabika Muzaffar, former Mirchi 98.3 RJ, is better known as ‘The Shayari Teller’ for her second of three podcasts, which recently crossed 83k listens. Listeners’ love led to the birth of ‘The Shayari Teller Master e-Classes’ for Poetry Writing and Performance Poetry. These 1:1 mentoring sessions are based on an International Open Elective designed by Sabika for the National Institute of Design, where she offers Performance Arts modules as a Visiting Faculty.
